The direct method of teaching

This method is based on the direct delivery of information to students without translation. In other words, students are taught English without adding terms from their mother tongue to the teacher. Gradually students begin to understand and get used to the method. Assisted by principles and techniques such as maps, reading and conversation.

The principles which are used to promote the direct teaching method for university students:

Map drawing:

Analyze the human personality through the timeline. The teacher begins by drawing the three-stage timeline and asks a question to be answered by the students: "What are the three-time stages?" The answer includes past, present and future. The teacher begins by analyzing the characters according to the timeline, where he or she explains through the diagram presented to the students. The first type is the person who has a bad present and does not guarantee the future and prefer to live throughout her life in remembering the past and nostalgia for him. After the teacher explains this point, he calls one of the students to assign it to the timeline, drawing an arrow pointing back, meaning "the direction of the past" with the word "backward". The second type has a bad past and a less bad present but always hopes that the future will be better. A student is called back to set the arrow pointing to the future "forward" which expresses the status of the person who hopes for a good future. The latter kind is pessimistic people of the future, their present is bad and their past is so misunderstood that they are stuck and unable to move forward or move backward. The teacher calls one of the students for the last time to draw a vertical line in the middle (the person currently stuck), in the present.

Reading aloud:

the teacher reads the three theories then asks the students to re-explain a certain point of the lesson through the timeline and this helps the students in mastering the language and vocalization and training gradually using the same method each time.

The conversation:

It is also very important in consolidating the information and strengthening the language. The teacher asks students to work in groups each group consisting of 3 people representing the past, the present and the future, and each person explains his theory through the conversation within the group and repeats it to the rest students of the class.
